Serengti National Park

A Wilderness to Explore...

Location & History

As one of the world’s most famous wildlife areas, the Serengeti needs no introduction.
Situated on a high plateau in northern Tanzania. Serengeti borders Ngorongoro Conservation Area
to the south and Kenya’s Maasai Mara Game Reserve to the north. Henceforth, the unforgettable
ecosystem
promises wildlife like no other. The Serengeti originates from the Maasai word Siringet –
meaning Endless Plains.

Serengeti is split into 4 major areas; Grass Plains, Central (Seronera), Western Corridor
(Kirawira) and North (Kogatende, Bologonja and Lobo). It is of the world’s last great wildlife refuges,
its grassy plains, savannah acacias and wooded hills, are the backdrop for an extraordinary
concentration of animals, which reaches its peak during the Great Wildebeest Migration………

Grass Plains

Serengeti’s endless grass plains quite interesting. During the dry season the plains are
just a vast stretch of nothingness. However, in the early summer the migratory return
for calving season and plains become alive with dramatic wildlife scenes.

Central (Seronera)

The Seronera Valley is located within central Serengeti, it is famous for its wooded valleys
where a great deal of wildlife is located throughout the year! As a matter of fact, about 11km
east from Seronera
lies tuner springs, it one of the best places to see elephants and leopards.

North (Kogatende, Bologonja and Lobo)

Northern Serengeti is famous for the wildebeest crossing during the dry season. This death-
defying crossing happens in crocodile-infested waters of the Grumeti and Mara River. It is the
ultimate struggle to survive.

The Great Wildebeest Migration of 1.5 million wildebeest uniquely undertake a clockwise circuit
of more than 1000 kilometers, migrating and searching for new pastures and watering holes.
Ultimately, the reason why we believe the Serengeti shall never die!

(A good book: Serengeti Shall Not Die by Bernhard and Michael Grzimek)

Altogether create a unimaginable system of our ecosystem. And during the evening as the sun
sinks below the horizon, and the lonely star appears above, it is at that moment, you will
find
yourself relaxed with a mind free from thought.
