Balloon Safari

TSA text divider - 692c2d

If the landscapes from the ground are already breathtaking; imagine those from a silent swooping hot air balloon several hundred feet above the endless savannah.

Your day will begin very early with a pre-dawn wakeup call, followed by a transfer to the balloon launch site. On the way, you may be fortunate to spot nocturnal animals. At the launch site, you will witness the balloon’s preparation for takeoff at dawn. Rising as the sun rises, you will effortlessly float over the Serengeti for an hour, however, this will largely depend on the prevailing wind conditions - this is what makes every flight unique. The pilot, conversant with the surrounding areas, will take advantage of various wind currents and altitudes, and as committed conservationists, will point out wildlife and features of interest. It is only appropriate that your flight in style will follow with a special “Out of Africa” champagne breakfast in the bush; served in style. After, you will be taken back to a rendezvous point where you’ll continue your adventure with your Safari Guide.

Although an expensive excursion, this is an incredible safari bucket list experience that will top-off your Serengeti adventure. It is also possible to charter special private balloon flights in the Grumeti Reserve for honeymooners or those seeking ultimate exclusivity.

2The world’s largest game reserve, spans a vast 12 million acres – larger than Switzerland! It’s best accessed via scenic local charter flights. Game viewing is centered in the northern corridor of the reserve around the Rufiji River; the vital water lifeline that’s supports half of Tanzania’s elephants. Rufiji allows unique wildlife viewing experience by boat. Moreover, game drives are done in open-sided vehicles and guided walking safaris are also possible.

Selous is in close proximity to Ruaha, so it is a good opportunity to extend this trip to Ruaha to experience the more remote side of Tanzania and have even better chances of viewing its rare southern wildlife, such as the Greater Kudu.
